JAL represents the group of four parishes in the municipalities of Saint-Juste-du-Lac, Auclair and Lejeune, who’ve been threatened to be closed down by the East Québec Territory Planning Office during the 1970s. These communities have fought to exist. Forty years later, the same three villages are confronted with new difficulties. Taking a realistic and very intimate approach, this film uncovers the challenges the JAL faces. By following characters and by delving into the daily lives of the people, we come to understand the great challenges our rural communities are facing.
