“Hi, my name is Michael and I’m a chorophobe.”
And so begins the journey of Toronto filmmaker Michael Allcock and his search to understand why he’s unable or unwilling to dance – why, his whole adult life, he’s been consumed by a fear known medically as chorophobia; the fear of dancing.
How can anyone not love dancing? Some would say it’s what makes us truly human. Others would say that it’s like saying you don’t like to breathe.
And, yet, there are millions and millions of chorophobes on this planet. What makes them tick?
FEAR OF DANCING is a CBC documentary chronicling Michael’s journey across 4 continents exploring dance through the eyes of those that just don’t get it. Along the way, the director will encounter celebrity chorophobes, dancing robots, magical socks, virtual reality and a mysterious dancing plague that killed hundreds.
